Partner FAQ
Your Questions, Answered.
Everything lawyers and notaries ask before joining the WME network — organized by topic so you can find what you need.
The Partnership
Is this employment, a franchise, or something else?
It's a professional services partnership. You're not employed by WME and you're not a franchisee. You operate as an independent professional using our platform and brand. The relationship is contractual and straightforward.
Can I keep my existing practice?
Yes — and that's exactly how most WME partners structure it. Your existing clients, cases, and income are completely unaffected. WME appointments run in parallel, typically on designated days or time blocks you choose. Some partners dedicate one half-day per week to WME; others block off a full day. You control the calendar. There's no minimum and no requirement to change anything about how you currently practice.
Are spots limited?
Yes. We limit the number of lawyers per city to make sure each partner receives a meaningful volume of appointments. If your city has an opening, we encourage you to apply soon.
Is the partnership exclusive?
No — we don't offer exclusivity. You're free to work with any other platform or service alongside WME. What we do is cap the number of active partners per city to protect booking volume and maintain service quality for everyone in the network. That limit works in your favour — it means the appointments we send you are meaningful, not diluted across a dozen competing lawyers in the same postal code.
How long is the contract?
Partnership terms are covered in the partnership agreement you'll receive after your discovery call. There's no long lock-in — we want partners who want to be here, not partners who are trapped.
Qualifications & Eligibility
Do I need to specialize in estate law?
No. WME's system handles document preparation before the client arrives. You need to be a competent licensed professional who can review documents, answer questions, make adjustments, and notarize. We train you on the WME process and templates during onboarding.
Can notaries (not just lawyers) participate?
Yes, in provinces where notaries hold the authority to prepare and execute wills and estate planning documents. In British Columbia, for example, notaries public are fully eligible. In provinces where that authority is restricted to lawyers, only lawyers can participate. We confirm eligibility during the application process — just include your credentials and province, and we'll let you know where you stand.
I'm semi-retired. Is WME a good fit?
It's one of the most common profiles in our network. WME is specifically designed to work alongside a reduced schedule — you control how many appointments you take, and there's no minimum.
Can a small firm participate, or is it only for sole practitioners?
Both. Small firms often designate one or two partners to run WME appointments. The income flows to whoever runs the appointments — the setup is flexible.
The Appointments
How long is each appointment?
One hour. The documents are already prepared before the client arrives — you're reviewing, advising, and executing, not drafting from scratch. In practice, most appointments run 50–60 minutes.
Do I need a dedicated office space?
You need a professional meeting space appropriate for a legal appointment. This can be your existing office, a shared boardroom, or similar. The space doesn't need to be branded for WME.
What if a client has a complex estate?
Most estates — even those with multiple properties or business interests — can be handled in a standard WME appointment. If a client's situation is genuinely beyond the WME scope, you'd advise them of that and refer them accordingly. Our onboarding covers how to identify these situations.
Who is legally responsible for the work?
You are, as the licensed professional conducting the appointment. All legal advice, document review, accuracy, and professional obligations rest with you — as they would in any client engagement. WME provides the platform, the document templates, and the client. We do not provide legal oversight, and we are not a law firm. Your malpractice insurance and professional obligations apply to WME appointments exactly as they would to any other client in your practice.
What documents are produced at each appointment?
Every WME appointment produces a Last Will and Testament, an Enduring Power of Attorney, a Personal Care Directive, and a Healthcare Directive. Document names and specific provincial requirements vary — your onboarding will cover the specifics for your jurisdiction.
Money & Payments
What's the split?
You keep 75% of every appointment fee. The standard appointment fee is $495, so your share is approximately $371 per appointment. The 25% service fee covers all client acquisition, document preparation, booking infrastructure, and payment processing.
When do I get paid?
Payment schedules are confirmed during onboarding and detailed in your partnership agreement. Payments are issued on a regular cycle — typically bi-weekly — and deposited directly to your account. You don't need to invoice anyone or chase payment. Every appointment you complete is automatically tracked in the platform, and your payment is calculated and processed without any administrative effort on your part.
Is there a minimum number of appointments I need to take?
No minimum. Even one appointment per month is fine. The model is designed to flex around your practice.
Does WME take a cut of my other practice revenue?
No. The 25% service fee applies only to WME appointments. Your existing practice income is entirely separate.
Can I raise my WME rates as my volume grows?
WME rates are standardised across the platform. This protects the brand value and gives clients price predictability. Your existing practice rates are entirely your own.
Getting Started
How long does onboarding take?
Most partners complete onboarding in one or two sessions — typically under a week from approval to first appointment.
What if my city doesn't have spots available?
We'll add you to our waitlist and contact you when capacity opens. Cities grow as volume grows — new spots open regularly as the network expands.
Am I committing to anything by applying?
Not at all. The application starts a conversation. Nothing is agreed until you decide to move forward after your discovery call.
How do I get started?
Fill out the short application on this site — it takes about five minutes and covers your credentials, province, and availability. Every application is reviewed personally by the WME team, not filtered by an algorithm. If there's a fit, we'll reach out within two business days to schedule a brief discovery call. No commitment required at that stage — it's a conversation, not a contract.
Ready to Apply?
Five minutes. No commitment. We'll be in touch within two business days.
